Job Description
We are looking for a senior environment artist with a specialization in stylized PBR rendering. Candidates should have a keen eye for scene composition and lighting, and be comfortable both building high-fidelity hero assets from scratch, and mocking-up areas using kit-bashing techniques.
You will be rapidly iterating on 3D environments during the blockout phase, and will be asked to respond to regular feedback from the art director, as well as collaborators from other disciplines. In addition, we are very interested in experimental rendering, so any experience with material stylization in a PBR setting is a plus. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Working with the creative director and art director to plan and execute the vision for a scene in the Unreal Engine
- Translating concepts & paintovers into 3D compositions
- Modeling and creating materials for hero assets that can withstand up-close scrutiny
- At times, reworking environments to accommodate evolving design goals and respond to challenges that arise
- Maintain architectural and design consistency across the game world
Requirements & Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of Maya, Blender or equivalent (please state your preference in the application)
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine
- Keen eye for lighting & composition
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in a small team setting
- Independent problem solver
- Passion for building striking 3D environments that tell a story
Bonus Skills
- Proficiency in creating and editing materials
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine material functions & Blueprints
- Experience with level design
- Be able to ideate and build environments without concepts when needed
- Remote work experience
Additional Job Details
- All-remote role, with optional on-sites in Los Angeles, CA
- We are interested in both full-time, part-time, and freelance contracts
- Competitive compensation, insurance and time off for salaried roles
